Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for common issues with the CheerKeeper mobile app.

App Issues

App Won't Open / Crashes

  1. Force close and reopen

    • iPhone: Swipe up from bottom, swipe app away
    • Android: Recent apps, swipe away
  2. Restart your device

  3. Update the app

    • Check App Store or Google Play for updates
  4. Reinstall

    • Delete and reinstall the app
    • Note: Saved teams will be lost without an account

App is Slow

  • Close other apps
  • Check available storage
  • Clear app cache (Android: Settings → Apps → CheerKeeper → Clear Cache)
  • Restart the app

Event Issues

Can't Find My Event

  • Check spelling - Try partial names
  • Check dates - Past events may be archived
  • Ask the organizer - Verify it's on CheerKeeper
  • Try searching by location - City or venue name

Event Schedule is Empty

  • The organizer may not have published yet
  • Pull down to refresh
  • Check if you're on the correct date

Schedule Times are Wrong

  • Pull down to refresh for latest changes
  • Check for "Schedule Updated" banner
  • Contact the organizer if times seem incorrect

Notification Issues

Not Receiving Notifications

Check device settings:

iPhone:

  1. Settings → Notifications → CheerKeeper
  2. Enable Allow Notifications
  3. Choose Banner and Sound

Android:

  1. Settings → Apps → CheerKeeper → Notifications
  2. Toggle on
  3. Check that battery optimization isn't blocking

Check in-app settings:

  1. Open app Settings
  2. Ensure notifications are enabled

Check battery saver:

  • Battery/power saving modes can block notifications
  • Add CheerKeeper to exceptions

Notifications are Delayed

  • Poor WiFi at venues can delay notifications
  • Keep the app open or recently used
  • Notifications should arrive within seconds

Wrong Time in Notification

  • Schedule may have changed
  • Pull to refresh in the app
  • The notification shows old time, check current schedule

Search Issues

Can't Find a Team

  • Try different spellings - "All-Stars" vs "Allstars"
  • Search organization name - "Elite" instead of "Elite Black"
  • Search partial names - Just "Elite" or "Black"
  • Check filters - Remove filters that might be hiding results

Search Returns No Results

  • Clear any active filters
  • Try broader search terms
  • The team may not be at this event

Account Issues

Can't Log In

Saved Teams Gone

  • If you reinstalled without an account, data is lost
  • Sign in to restore synced teams
  • Re-add teams manually

Can't Create Account

  • Check email format is valid
  • Try a different email
  • Contact support if issues persist

Connection Issues

"No Internet Connection"

  • Check WiFi or cellular data
  • Venue WiFi may be overloaded
  • Switch to cellular if WiFi is slow
  • Cached data still works offline

Schedule Won't Refresh

  • Check internet connection
  • Force close and reopen app
  • Try again in a minute

"Something Went Wrong"

  • Usually a temporary server issue
  • Wait a moment and try again
  • Check status.cheerkeeper.com

Performance Issues

Battery Drain

  • Normal if checking frequently
  • Reduce notification frequency
  • Close when not needed
  • Disable background refresh if not using notifications

High Data Usage

  • Schedules are small, shouldn't use much data
  • Check for app updates (can be large)
  • Use WiFi when available
