What Triggers Notifications

Saved Teams

You'll get notifications for:

  • Teams you've saved (hearted)
  • Each performance they have
  • Schedule changes affecting them

Schedule Changes

When an organizer modifies the schedule:

  • Time changes
  • Room changes
  • Session reassignments
  • Scratches/cancellations

"X Teams Until You"

A popular CheerKeeper feature:

  • Shows how many performances until your team
  • Updates in real-time as performances complete
  • More useful than exact times (which often run late)

Find this on the My Teams tab.

Troubleshooting

Not Receiving Notifications

  1. Check device settings - Notifications must be allowed
  2. Check in-app settings - Toggle may be off
  3. Check battery saver - May block background activity
  4. Check internet - Need connectivity for push notifications

Delayed Notifications

  • Poor venue WiFi can delay delivery
  • Notifications should arrive within seconds normally
  • Open the app to force refresh

Too Many Notifications

  • Unsave teams you don't need to track
  • Adjust timing (one 30-min alert vs. multiple)
  • Use quiet hours during non-event times

Wrong Times in Notifications

  • The schedule may have changed
  • Pull to refresh in the app
  • Check the event for latest times

Best Practices

Competition Day Prep

  1. Save all your teams the day before
  2. Set appropriate notification times
  3. Test that notifications work
  4. Charge your phone fully

At the Venue

  • Keep CheerKeeper open or recently used
  • Turn off battery saver if needed
  • Don't dismiss notifications too quickly (they link to details)

Multiple Kids

If you're tracking many teams:

  • Use longer notification times for earlier performances
  • Shorter times as you settle into the venue
  • Consider "X teams until" instead of time-based

Premium Features

Premium users get enhanced notifications:

  • Countdown timers
  • Schedule change details
  • Historical performance tracking
